Yoel Romero was born in Pinar del Rio, Cuba, on April 30, 1977. He began his combat sports journey as a wrestler, representing Cuba in international competitions. Romero found success, earning a silver medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney.

MMA Career

After retiring from wrestling, Romero transitioned to mixed martial arts (MMA) in 2009. He quickly rose through the ranks, showcasing his exceptional wrestling skills and devastating knockout power. In 2013, he joined the UFC and established himself as a top contender in the middleweight division.
